THOMAS STONE
(1743 - 1787) Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Maryland and wealthy businessman, he later refused to sign the Articles of Confederation and declined to attend the Constitutional Convention. Especially rare A.D.S. 'T. Stone', an endorsement on the verso of a 9 x 8 in. sheet reading in full: 'Saml Love Esq of Saml Love vs. Thos. Reiden...Mr. Gwinn file it T. Stone'. The sheet has been bleached and backed, and the endorsement and signature are light but all entirely legible. Ex: University Archives, with their description. Estimated accordingly. Love was a member of the Committee of Safety and Observation of Charles County. John Gwinn was the Court Clerk.
