An antique Russian Orthodox icon of Saint George slaying the dragon. Mixed media technique: egg tempera, gesso on wood panel with engraved gold underlay. The miracle of Georgy about the serpent is the rescue of the princess by him from the serpent (dragon), described in the life of the holy great martyr George the Victorious. It was reflected in the iconography of this saint, becoming his most recognizable image. Inscribed in the Cyrillic upper to the center. Circa: 19th century. Antique Russian religious items and collectibles.
