HIGH QUALITY JAPANESE MEIJI CLOISONNE ENAMEL PLATE
A high quality Japanese, early Meiji era, enamel charger or plate. The plate is adorned with polychrome images of butterflies in the center, surrounded by floral and foliage motifs made in the Cloisonne technique. The border of the plate is adorned with floral and swirl patterns made in the same technique. The backside of the ware is decorated with polychrome floral, swirl, and geometrical ornaments made in the same technique. Unmarked. Circa: 1868 to 1877.
