DAMASCUS PORTRAIT WATERCOLOR PAINTING BY H JAVDANI
H. Javdani, 20th century Iranian painter, graphite and watercolour painting on paper depicting a portrait of an old man, 1953. Signed, inscribed, Studio Demon, Tehran, and dated, lower left. Framed. A gold tone plate, inscribed, Damascus Portraits Mid 20th Century, on the front of the frame. The Armenian Iranian artist, R.A. Avak Hayrapetian was one of the founders of 'Studio Demon, synonymous with Studio Hayrapetian, a small atelier supporting artists, a number of whom were of Armenian descent, through the production of light hearted images of Iranian characters which were retailed as souvenirs.
