BISHOP & STONIER (Bisto Ware) 18.5cm Dia BOWL DECORATED WITH FRUIT (1891-1936).
(The mark on this piece (Caduceus) was registered as a trade mark by Powell & Bishop in 1876 the mark was also used by subsequent partnerships including Bishop & Stonier.
Caduceus: A winged staff with two serpents twined around it, carried by Hermes (Greek God) it is a symbol of commerce.
The "BISTO" trade name was only used by Bishop and Stonier and often appeared (but not always) with this mark)
