Purportedly identified as Ms. Sarah Carter (1744-1791) of King George, Virginia, signed “Ms. Sarah Carter” on area to subject’s right face, in a gilt frame with etched panels, oil on canvas, circa 1770. Brief life history of Sarah Carter is attached on reverse. Oil on canvas, 30 x 24.5 inches. In original frame, 35 x 29.5 inches. In original condition.
