NYC Theater Opera Vintage Mens Doublet and Hose
NYC Theater/Opera Vintage Mens Renaissance Doublet and Hose. This vintage c1950 mens renaissance set features a long sleeve doublet made of burgundy velvet with large slits at the sleeve for pulling a poets shirt through, lace up slides with suede ties, antique metallic gold tone ribbon trim in bar along the front, hook and eye closures, and cuffs and piping made of red, black, and black tinsel striped fabric. There are 2 metal bars sewn to the front for attaching accessories. The doublet is lined in a bright red textured rayon and the collar and sleeves are lined in a thin cotton. Laying flat the doublet measures: shoulder 18'' , sleeve 24'', 18.5'', 31.5''. Also included is a pair of modern footed stretchy red velvet hose, with black elastic shoulder supports, elastic waist, and a gold tone hand applied painted stencil in a flourishing pattern. The hose measure: waist 14.5'' length 44'' . The doublet is in fair condition with damage and tarnishing to the antique metallic lace accents, signs of being altered over time, 1 bottom seam coming unsewn, staining at the collar, and general signs of age and wear. The hose are in good condition with some of the gold finish wearing off and light wear to the soles of the hose. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
