Wood engravings by Bezalel artist Aharon Halevi

Six wooden engravings of the Land of Israel and its fruit, accompanied by biblical verses, by the Painter and naturalist Aharon Halevi [1887-1957].

Engravings In the shape of a circle, around appears a verse from the Bible that characterizes the engraving.

Aharon Halevi immigrated to Eretz Israel as a pioneer in the second aliyah stream in 1906, first working for the first aliyah in Rechovot in the orchard industry and in Smilansky's orchard, then studied for about six months at the Bezalel school. After his marriage in 1912 he immigrated to Jerusalem and hired Atalia at the Bezalel School in 1912-14, where he worked as an independent artist and painter. Over the years he has exhibited many exhibitions of his works in various places. The engravings before us were created by Halevy between the years 1926-9 [the engraving showing the seven species was chosen to serve as the symbol and stamp of the Botanical Institute for Research and Scientific Research at the Weizmann Institute run by Yitzhak-Elazari Wilkansky (Volcanic) from the Rehavia neighborhood of Jerusalem]. Halevi is considered one of the first painters to paint the Land of Israel and its landscapes. His paintings excelled in accuracy over scientific integrity in the details. One of the designers of the garden named after Meir Dzingoff in Tel Aviv.
