The Admor Rabbi Chaim Zanville Avrahamovich - "The Rebbe of Rivnitz" [1898-1996]. From the famous Tzaddiks of the generation who gave his life for the establishment of Judaism, and his name came out from the end of the world to its end as one and special miracle generator of the generation. Born to Rabbi Moshe and Yuta Tzipora in Botosani, Bukovina - Romania, and became an orphan of his father at the age of two and a half years. An extreme genius and knowledgeable and testified on himself that already at the age of 18 he knew the whole Sha's. Already in his youth he was known for his Hassdut costumes and Prishut. A tzaddik and a worker of salvation, who served with devotion as a rebbe under communist rule in Romania. He grew up in the house of the rebbe Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Leib Frenkel of Botosani and was ordained by Rabbi Yehuda Leib Chirlson, and as a child came to the rebbe of Stephenesht (See below). After his marriage he lived in several cities in Bessarabia, including Chisinau. After World War II, most of the rabbis who lived under Soviet rule fled to the United States and Israel, but he remained, and began serving as a rabbi in Ribnitz.
As a young orphan was a son-in-law and a close disciple of the Rebbe Avraham Matityahu Friedman of Stepanesht. On one occasion his rabbinical wife asked him: "What is your first memory?" And He replied that he remembered how his mother brought him to the Rebbe of Stepanesht who had no children and the Rebbe reached out and picked him up. It was his first memory. To the Rabbi of Shtepanesht had a house called the 'Messiah Shtuv' which was inherited from the House of Rozin and did not allow anyone to enter it. The only one who was allowed to enter and even sleep in the 'Messiah Shtuv' was the Kadosh of Rivnitz. The Rebbe of Stepanesht, who had no children, called him "my dear son" and said of him: "You are my innovation" and he in turn would say of the Rebbe of Stepanesht: "I am his only son." The Rebbe of Rivnitz was the only one present at the time of the departure of the soul holding his two hands and at his death he said to him, "I leave you three things: my Holy Spirit, my form, and my grace."
It is said of his holy leaderships, while in Russia he used to break pieces of ice in the Dniester River and dip under it in the icy river water, and would come out all blue when almost unconscious (according to testimonies of his servant Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Gerjoy). All his years he used to dip in the mikvah with Kavanot Veyihudim for long hours. All his years he used to dip in the mikvah with intentions and uniqueness for long hours. (On one occasion during his years in America, when he was hospitalized with pneumonia, he got dressed and snuck out of the hospital, went to the mikvah and came back, without being felt). Midnight Tikun was edited for about 7 hours, and there were times that his Midnight Tikun lasted until noon. At the time of the Tikun he used to put ashes on his face and a sack under his clothes, The Rebbetzin testified that he would cry "as if the temple was now standing and burned before his eyes", His followers from the Russian period testified that from the many tears he would shed in the midnight patch sitting on the ground, he would end up looking like he was sitting in the mud. During his time in Eretz Yisrael, his followers asked him to take him to the Western Wall to perform a midnight Tikun and he replied that he afraid to go there 'For the soul will blossom from me'.
During his years in Russia, despite the authorities' ban on religious life, he continued to keep mitzvos openly without fear, slaughtering and making Circumcision to the Jews in the area, and giving Torah lessons, not only did the authorities turn a blind eye to his actions but The non-Jews would bring their little sons and their wives to be blessed by his holy mouth. He was sorry for the other's sorrow and shed tears like water when he heard the other's trouble. On one occasion when the Rebbetzin entered his room she saw him crying bitterly, when she asked him what had happened, he replied: "I had a Jew who broke my heart and after what he told me I was not a human being ..." (Told by the Rebbetzin).
Published all over the world as a righteous man and said of himself "A Jew should do what is right. My role is to act for salvation". ' Tens of thousands came to consult with him and be blessed by his mouth, and saw miraculous and salvations. Even after his name came out all over the world as a A miracle man that by his prayers and blessings many were saved - in his great humility once told to his wife: "I do salvation? I do nothing ... People come to me and if they believe they are saved ... it is not because of me, All because of faith " (according to Rebbetzin Rivnitz). His blessings in all matters bore fruit, and even in matters of livelihood it is known of some of the wealthiest Jews in America who testified to themselves that they came to him while all their business went down the drain in the great crises of the United States, and he returned them to their lofty status. He used to go for a short walk every day and said, "When I feel good I can see from the end of the world to the end." And in matters of medicine he would bless and pray for the sick in a difficult situation, and thanks to his prayers he returned them to health for days and years by the power of his blessings and holiness. According to what the Rebbetzin told, there were whole days when he ate nothing, and very little sleep - within 24 hours he slept barely one hour.
While in Russia he would keep all the Yarzeitim of the inhabitants of the city, and he would remember the dates of death of all of them, and he used to 'carry' non-observant Jews to answer Amen, and a Kaddish and Kdusha.
The rebbe of Rivnitz immigrated to Israel and lived in Kiryat Babov in Bat Yam, then in Bnei Brak and then in Jerusalem. In 1974 he emigrated to the United States. He lived in Miami, Crown Heights, Sea Gate (Brooklyn) and finally Monsey, where he died and was buried. His tomb in the city of Monsey is a center of the many who ascend to his grave, and thousands come to prostrate themselves on its grave every year.
