Menachem Begin at the Western Wall after winning the elections to the Tenth Knesset - July 1981
A photograph showing Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin at the Western Wall after his victory in the elections to the Tenth Knesset. In those elections, it seemed that there was equality between the "Ma'rach' and the "Likud". After the vote count, it became clear that the Likud won by a margin of only ten thousand votes, and President Yitzhak Navon entrusted Menachem Begin the formation of the coalition. Begin succeeded in forming a coalition based on a narrow majority of 61 MKs, and the government set out on August 5, 1981.
