Journey to the East - Henry Chichester - Limited Edition Signed by the Chairman of the Palestine Research Foundation - Maps and Lithographs
FAUNA AND FLORA OF SINAI, PETRA AND WADY ARABAH - Journey to the Middle East - Sinai, Petra and the Arava - Research on the Regional Flora and Fauna by Henry Chichester Hart, London 1891. Numbered edition 241 out of 500 copies, and signed by the Chairman of The Land of Israel Research Foundation James Glaisher. Magnificent cover with gilt inscription in embossing and symbol of the Franciscan cross.
The book is accompanied by two colored maps [large, folded] and ten lithographic plates with views of the flora and fauna in the east.
The Author Henry Chichester Hart [1847-1908] - British botanist and researcher. After researching the area of Ireland he was sent to Eretz Israel in 1883. The results of his research were presented in the book before us. Some of his writings were destroyed in a fire that broke out in 1916.
