The Holy Land Album - a photo album from the Land of Israel. Paris, early 20th century
ALBUM DE TERRE SAINTE - The Holy Land Album - 12 large photographs [over entire pages] of landscapes, sites, and people, in the Jerusalem area. A map of the Land of Israel without the Negev was printed on the back of the cover. Paris, early 20th century. rare.
Impressive cover with painting of an Arab nomad looking at the view of the Holy City in a colorful lithographic print. The photographs in the album in black and white, are depicted in French in romantic language, and were taken from unusual angles. Among them: the Temple Mount, a view of the Mount of Olives, Armenians in traditional dress on Mount Zion, Hezekiah's Pool, the ancient building of St. Jea's Hospital, Jehoshaphat Valley, women from the Shiloah area in traditional dress, entrances to the Jaffa Gate, and more.
