Hartmann Schedel - The Nuremberg Chronicle 1493 - Early huge Facsimile - Magnificently and Numbered. Leipzig 1933
The monumental book by the historian Hartmann Schedel 'The Nuremberg Chronicle' - 1493 - a huge fancy facsimile identical to the original, numbered 597, published by F.W. Hendel, Leipzig 1933. The large and thick leaves of the book fit exactly into the original edition, created especially for this edition at the publishing house of Ferdinand Flisch. The magnificent cover was designed by H. Sperling in Leipzig.
The book includes all the maps and engravings that appeared in the original edition in the same format. Among them, of course, the famous map of Jerusalem, Jews ascending the stake, the map of the 'destruction of Jerusalem', the map of the round Jerusalem, the Mishkan, the menorah, and the temple vessels, the murder of the boy Simon of Trento, figures from the Bible, and other engravings, all identical to the original edition.
Huge format: 48x34 cm. Weight: 8 kg. Luxurious half-leather binding with gilt inscription on the spine. Slight stains on cover. The body of the book is in very good condition. The original receipt of the store where the book was purchased at Emil Hirsch's store in 1948 also appears.
