"This is hour of persecution" - a special edition of "Igeret Teyman" of the rambam printed in Kaunas in 1935
"This hour is a time of persecution, wandering and chaos for our people, how very true the words of the late Maimonides who sent to our deported and mad brethren of his generation" - "Yemen Letter" to Maimonides ztl' Kaunas - Telshi (Kovno- Telsze) 1935. Published by the Aid Fund for Talented Poor Students by the Agudat Israel Youth Center in Lithuania.
A rare edition of the "Yemenite letter" by HaRambam, translated by Rabbi Nachum Ma'aravi, was printed especially during a difficult time for the people of Israel in Lithuania, which is threatened by the Soviet Union on the one hand, and by Nazi Germany on the other. The edition includes introductory remarks on the necessity of printing the letter in which Maimonides strengthens our fellow Israelites wherever they are from the persecution, as well as shutting the mouths of those who distort the intention of the Rambam. Similarly, in this edition, the publisher brings 'History of Maimonides' briefly quoted, at the beginning of the letter.
This edition of Igeret Teyman does not appear in Weinograd-Rosenfeld.
