Six anti-Semitic German Mark bills. Germany, 1922-1923
6 banknotes of 1000 "German marks 1922" with an anti-Semitic caricature stamped on them, Germany, 1922-1923.
The banknotes feature an anti-Semitic caricature of a Jewish person being punched by a Nazi swastika fist, a stereotypical image of a Jewish criminal, and the anti-Semitic inscription: "Judaism is organized crime". The Jewish people are depicted wearing the coat of the Soviet Jewish leader, Leon Trotsky, as well as the Jewish enemy of Christianity and more.
Inflation in Germany during the 1920s had many reasons, but like many crises in history, anti-Semites were convinced that "rich Jews" were responsible for the economic crisis. The stereotype of the exploitative Jew, taking advantage of the weak and crises to enrich themselves, was prevalent in Germany in the years following World War I. At the same time, the Germans printed many regular banknotes with numerous anti-Semitic caricatures depicting Jews as the cause of the crisis and calling for their removal from Germany, and for the extermination of the Jewish people. Six banknotes of 1000 marks: 8.5 x 16 cm. Three banknotes feature a red serial number, one has a green serial number, one has a purple serial number, and one has a black serial number. General condition good.
