Yitzhak Rabin - Pinkas Sherut. A dedicated and signed copy by Rabin
Yitzhak Rabin - Pinkas Sherut, Ma'ariv Publishing, 1979 - Volumes I-II - First Edition. A dedicated and signed copy by Rabin in English.
The book is an autobiography and memoir of Yitzhak Rabin, published in 1979, which he wrote together with journalist Dov Goldstein. The book caused a number of scandals at the time, due to the blunt language used towards different political figures, especially Shimon Peres, Rabin's rival for leadership of the establishment, whom Rabin nicknamed "a tireless subverter" and which stuck to Peres for years. The book was written in 1978-1979 when Rabin was a member of Knesset in the opposition, and was first published in English under the name "The Rabin Memoirs". In the book, Rabin covers the milestones of his life until the time of writing, including his childhood, fighting in the Palmach, his military career, his tenure as ambassador to the United States, and as Prime Minister of Israel. Among other things, Rabin wrote about controversial issues such as the expulsion of Arabs during the War of Independence, the Altalena affair, and more. The first Hebrew edition was released in early September 1979. On September 10, 1979, Rabin held a press conference to launch the book, during which he repeated some of the things published in the book, including that he should not serve as a minister in a government led by Shimon Peres.
