Description of Landrieux's journey after of the Holy Scriptures in Egypt and Palestine. Impressions of his travels in the last decade of the 19th century. Alongside a vivid description of the places he visited, Landrieux documents the history, geography, archaeology, and culture of the regions he explored, he also makes the connection to the biblical verses pertaining to them. The book is accompanied by early photographs from Eretz Israel depicting landscapes and the various inhabitants in their traditional attire, as well as illustrations and lithographs - some over entire pages and others integrated within the text. At the end of the book is a folded color map of Palestine. Due to the popularity of the book, it was translated into English, German, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese.
