The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. Buenos Aires - Warsaw 1948 - First Yiddish edition

"דער אויפשטאנד אין ווארשעווער געטא" - The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising April 19 to May 16, 1943, by Yosef Kermish. Published by the Central Union of Polish Jews in Argentina and the Jewish Historical Institute in Poland, Buenos Aires - Warsaw 1948 - first Yiddish edition translated from Polish by Shlomo Lastik.

Important book by Yosef Kermish on the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising - from the ghetto establishment, hunger and deportations, days leading up to the uprising, partisan battles and the huge fires, to the ghetto's final days of heroic revolt by the rebels. Kermish's book was originally published in Poland in 1946 on the third anniversary of the uprising. This Yiddish edition was published in April 1948 for the fifth anniversary of the uprising around the unveiling of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising memorial. It was the first research to provide a comprehensive picture of the ghetto from its founding to its destruction. Includes photos of German bombing of the ghetto, bombed Jewish homes in the ghetto, Jews emerging from bunkers led to execution, and more. Included is an appendix at the end of the book on the murder of children in the ghetto opening with Bialik's quote on murder of innocent children: "Satan has not yet created revenge for the blood of a small child".
