"Jews Living in Nazi-Occupied Europe Must Be Given the Opportunity to Immigrate to Eretz Israel" – "Zionist Questionnaire, Your Questions Answered" – A Rare Pamphlet Published in the Midst of World War II

"Had a Jewish State Already Existed in Eretz Israel, It Could Have Saved Hundreds of Thousands of Jews from the Fate that Befell Them in Europe" – Zionist Quiz: Your Questions Answered – A Rare Pamphlet Addressing the Most Pressing Questions on Zionism and Its Plan to Solve the Jewish Problem at the height of World War II, by Nathan Goldenberg. Published by the Zionist Federation in the Midst of World War II. London, [1943] – First Edition.

An important pamphlet featuring questions and answers on fundamental issues concerning the future of the Jewish people, Zionism, and the destiny of Eretz Israel at the height of World War II. Among other topics, Goldenberg defines the purpose of Zionism: "The aim of Zionism is to rectify the Jewish homelessness by establishing a Jewish State with a Jewish majority in Eretz Israel. In this way, it will be possible to bring into Eretz Israel the very large number of Jews who will wish to leave or will be forced to leave Europe." On the issue of immigration control, he argues that Jews must be the ones to control access to the land and manage Jewish immigration to Eretz Israel, not any other body. He also addresses concerns about the potential negative impact on the status of Jews in other countries due to the establishment of a Jewish state, asserting that not only will their status not deteriorate, but it will actually improve. Goldenberg reviews the industrial development of Eretz Israel achieved by Jews and discusses how Zionism serves as a response to antisemitism: "Today, a large part of Europe has been so saturated with Nazi antisemitic propaganda that it is doubtful whether logical arguments about Jewish rights will be of much help unless there is a complete change of outlook. Jews living in Nazi-occupied Europe must be given the opportunity to immigrate to Eretz Israel. For them, Zionism is the only answer to antisemitism. Jewish Palestine will welcome them and, more importantly, will assist them in returning to normal life. Antisemitism is fundamentally 'hatred of the foreigner.' This hostility is exacerbated in our case because, unlike any other people, we have no country of our own... Zionism will therefore help combat antisemitism, though it will not completely eliminate it. The creation of a Jewish state in Palestine will normalize the image of the Jew in the eyes of non-Jews and, in doing so, will help to eradicate antisemitism." Goldenberg also criticizes Britain’s handling of Jewish immigration, stating: "The whole world now knows where 'appeasement' leads. Had Britain been less eager to 'appease' Arab leaders, there would be one to two million Jews in Palestine today, and their presence would have made a great difference." Regarding the Jewish-Arab question, he asserts that in the future Jewish state, Arabs will be equal citizens in what will become the most prosperous nation in the Middle East.
Finally, when asked "What can I do to help the Zionist movement?", he replies: "Keep the Blue Box (of the JNF), enroll in Keren Hayesod and Keren Kayemet LeIsrael, and influence all your friends to join Zionist societies in their cities." He adds: "Talk about Zionism with everyone—your Jewish and non-Jewish friends alike. Make them understand the urgency and importance of Zionism as the solution to the Jewish problem. Read your local press with the intention of writing letters to present the Zionist case whenever the opportunity arises."
