"The Jewish Question: A Problem of Humanity" – A Universal Perspective on the "Jewish Question" During World War II. England, 1944.

The Jewish Question: A Problem of Mankind by N. Glas.

Published by Sheffield Educational Settlement, England, February 1944.

"There is a deeper reason why the Jewish Question has become such a burning issue at the present time. Rarely has there been a period in which this problem has stood so prominently at the forefront of world events. And hardly in history has there been a time when hundreds of thousands of Jews were treated as they are today... When studying the Jewish history of the past 1,500 years, one cannot help but ask why a people so despised and persecuted manages to persist. Their very existence is significant enough to trouble the entire world with their problems. There is a profound secret in the preservation of this race...".

An attempt to offer a solution to the "Jewish Question" in the midst of World War II, analyzing the persecution of the Jewish people through theological, historical, and realist perspectives. The author explores the "Legend of the Wandering Jew" and the Jewish role in human redemption, arguing that atonement for the "sin" that caused Jewish dispersion and wandering would bring healing to both the Jewish people and humanity as a whole. The book conveys a tone of sympathy for Jewish suffering during the war: "In recent years, people of Jewish origin have become more restless, resembling Ahasuerus more than ever before (the mythical figure from the Legend of the Wandering Jew). In one part of the world, they suddenly found themselves labeled as infamous enemies, deprived of the very breath of life... For millions of them, there was but one hope: to escape the place where they were considered worse than any other living creature. And what happened?... The gates opened so slowly that more had to remain inside than could enter. They stood there waiting in vain. Thousands upon thousands were forced to perish, thousands upon thousands die every month, and hundreds of thousands live under the daily threat of death...". Through an analysis of Jewish fate throughout history, the author demonstrates that the "Jewish Question" is ultimately a question of humanity itself, and that its resolution would bring healing to all of humankind.
