Lithographic Certificate Issued by JNF – 2 Dunams in the Leon Blum Colony, Eretz Israel. June 1940

Impressive Lithography – A Certificate in Honor of Rose Crasnick by the Pioneer Women's Group – for a Contribution of 2 Dunams of Land under Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael’s Patronage on the Land of the Leon Blum Colony (possibly known as Kfar Blum?) in Eretz Israel. Color lithographic print featuring an image of the Jewish French Prime Minister Leon Blum, and a rural scene – agricultural workers in Eretz Israel. Portland, Miami, June 1940.

Kfar Blum was established when, in 1941, the initial nucleus settled in Tel Na'ama, and in 1943 the kibbutz moved onto land in the Hula Valley and was named after Leon Blum. It is possible that the lithograph before us is part of a fundraising initiative collected for the establishment of the village shortly before that time.

Leon Blum [1872–1950] was a French Jewish politician, leader of the SFIO (the predecessor of the Socialist Party) and one of the founders of the Popular Front. He served as Prime Minister of France three times: first for a little over a year (1936–1937), secondly for about a month in 1938, and again for about a month after World War II. He was the second Jewish Prime Minister of France after Alexandre Millerand.

Size: 41x31 cm. Thick paper. Very good condition.
