One electronically tested 18KT white gold ladies cast ranzanite and diamond ring. The featured tanzanite is set within a tiered diamond bezel, supported by diamond set shoulders and an elaborate lattice under gallery, completed by a two millimeter wide band. Bright polish finish. Trademark is Oscar Friedman. Identified with markings of "18K". Condition is new, good workmanship One prong set oval mixed cut natural tanzanite, measuring 14.29 x 11.23 x 8.03mm, exact weight 8.95ct., clarity is eye clean, type I, medium, very slightly grayish, bluish violet color, (GIA bV 5/3), cut is very good. Tanzanite is a very rare gemstone that is only found in the country of Tanzania. Tanzanite was originally discovered in 1967. Tiffany & Company, named the stone "Tanzanite" after the country of origin. Tanzanite is found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. This region is inhabited by the Masai tribes people. The mining area is located just south of the Kenya border near Mt. Kilimanjaro. Tanzanite occurs in colors of gray, brown, violet, blue, reddish-purple, & green. The gem is interesting because of its exceptional pleochroism. Rotated in different directions a tanzanite will exhibit multiple changes of color. Tanzanite has a low tolerance to ultrasonic cleaning and should not be cleaned using this method.
