A Fine and Rare Illuminated Esther Scroll by Shmuel Ben David, Bezalel, 1910-1920
Description: Exceptional calligraphy illuminated by hand drawing with gouache and heightened with gold on parchment. Signed. The scroll in a later addition (low) silver case.
Width of scroll: 13 cm
Condition: Minimal ware to the scroll. The case broken at the joints.
Notes: Shmuel Ben David was born in Bulgaria and was one of Boris Schatz's first students. Later in his life he became and illustrator and teacher in the Bezalel academy.
