A CAUCASIAN GEORGIAN DAGGER KINJAL WITH MAKER'S MARKS, 19 C
A large Caucasian dagger (kinjal) with a wide double-edged blade with two wide and one narrow fuller on both sides. The blade is marked by the maker on the obverse and reverse. The grip is made of two polished carved horn scales fastened to the tang by three silver nielloed rivets. The scabbard mounts are silver and graved and finished with niello forming a typical floral motif.
Late 19th century.
L: 25 1/4 in., (64 cm.)
Condition: The blade is lightly pitteed and edges have been re-sharpened. The scabbard leather has minor losses. The reverse grip scale ahas a small crack.The silver fittings show a few small dents.
