Movement founded by Yitzhak Steiger in Sambor (1926) as secular apolitical Zionist youth movement , breaking away from Socialist-affiliated ”HaShomer HaTzair” , but retaining many of its symbols : Star of David (Judaism & Zionism), fleur-de-lis (Scouting movement), olive & oak wreaths (peace, nature, roots in the land). Originally called ”Union of Hebrew Scouts”, then ”Hebrew Youth” (”Ha Noar Ha Ivri”) & finally ”Zionist Youth”. Based in Warsaw, with branches in Europe & Palestine, where it established 30 settlements, including Tel Yitzhak, Ein HaShlosha, Mavkiim & Shaar Yishuv.
