The Attack of the King of the Negev on the King of the North – Amsterdam 1706 – Single Edition – Rare – with a signature and writing of the Yiddisher author Yosef Apatscho
The author of the book: Rabbi Ya'akov Londin of Lisa.
The composition is about the war of the good inclination, called the King of the Negev, against the bad inclination, called the King of the North. It includes an introduction detailing the author's history followed by 18 chapters in poetic language with commentary called Sinai Botetz. The author quotes many of the Torah scholars and rabbis of his era.
Agreements of many important rabbis, among them Rabbi Moshe Chagiz, Rabbi Eliezer Rokach of Krakow and more.
At the head of the book there is a signature and writing in Yiddish by Yosef Apatscho from 1904. Yosef Apatscho is the literary name of Yosef Meir Opotovsky (1886-1954) of the city of Mlawa in Poland. One of the greatest Yiddish writers during the first half of the 20th century. He writes that one of the agreements to the book is written by his great-great-grandfather, Rabbi Meir son of Rabbi Elyakim Getz, who served as a rabbi in Lask and Piotrikow.
An additional, earlier signature is erased with a pen.
