Collection of Broadsides from Bialystok – German Occupation during World War I – Yiddish
17 broadsides printed in Bialystok during WW I, following the occupation of the town by the Germans. Bialystok, September-October 1915. Yiddish, German and Polish.
Printed orders issued by the town headquarters and by the municipality. Orders concern daily life after the occupation – food, commerce, health, and more. One broadside forbids printing and selling newspapers; one broadside was issued by the Chasidic Rabbi Haim Hertz Halpern, in which he informs that a gathering will be held in the synagogue, on the morning of the day before Succoth. Six broadsides are in Yiddish only and others are in three languages - German, Polish and Yiddish.
Size and condition vary. Overall good condition.
