Manuscript – Sermons by Rabbi Nachum Travish Av Beit Din of Nikolsburg and Mähren and His Son-in-Law – [1838-1851]
Many sermons (approx. 100 quite large leaves) on the Parashot of the Torah, the holidays and more. Bound in a fine volume.
Most of the sermons are in Yiddish; some are in Hebrew. To the best of our knowledge, they have never been printed.
Regarding one sermon, for Shabbat Hagadol, the writer specifically indicates that it was delivered by Rabbi Nachum Travish. Another sermon, and possibly additional ones, also discusses Rabbi Tarvish's words. The remaining sermons were written by Rabbi Travish's son-in-law: either Rabbi Avraham Shimshon Kulka or Rabbi Yaakov Brill.
Rabbi Nachum Travish (1779-1842) Av Beit Din of Nikolsburg and Mähren [replacing Rabbi Mordechai Benet] was one of the geniuses of his generation. Authored the book "Shlom Yerushalayim" on the Yerushalmi. One of the leaders of the struggle against reform Judaism and the Enlightenment Movement.
Good condition.
