First edition of the famed classic commentary of the Ba”CH on Tur Yoreh Deah and Even HaEzer.
Published during the author’s lifetime.
R. Yoel Sirkis (1561-1640), was a student of R. Leibush of Lublin. Known as one of the greatest early Achronim, he served as Rov in various important communities, including, Lublin, Mezhibuzh, Belz, Brisk and finally Cracow. In Cracow, he published his monumental commentary to the Tur under the title Beis Chodosh. In addition to his commentary on the Tur, he authored glosses on Talmud Bavli known as Hago’as HaBaCH. He was the father-in-law of R. Dovid HaLevi Segal, (Turei Zahav) who refers to the Ba”CH extensively in his commentary on the Shulchan Aruch.
Yoreh Deah is complete, Even HaEzer is lacking a total of 10 pages.
