A fictional dialogue between a father and son concerning the “Hope of Israel”, by R. Avrohom Yaakov Gershon Lesser. Based upon traditional Jewish sources, this treatise was written at the behest of the American Gentile William E. Blackstone and was intended for presentation to the President of the United States.
R. Lesser (1834-1925), was born in Mir and studied in the Mirrer Yeshiva and under R. Shmuel Avigdor of Karlin. He received Semicha from R. Yitzchok Elchonon Spektor, R. Issac Charif and R. Shmuel Avigdor. After serving as a Rav in several towns in Russia, he immigrated to the United States serving for 15 years as a Rav in Chicago, and later in Cincinnati.
