The Apollo 17 moon landing mission was the final mission of NASA’s Apollo space program. Commander Gene Cernan and Lunar Module Pilot Harrison Schmitt completed three moon walks while on this mission, one of which resulted in the discovery of orange soil by the Shorty crater.
