Rare NASA Photo of the Recovery of the Apollo 14 Crew
Original NASA photograph print capturing the moment Apollo 14 Atronauts Alan B. Shepard, Jr., Stuart Roosa, and Edgar D. Mitchell disembarked the primary recovery ship, the USS New Orleans. From the personal colleciton of Edgar J. Mitchell.
Housed in a silver-metal frame. Frame size: 8in x 10in. Sight size: 7.25in x 9.25in. Print details of the photo on the back. The Apollo 14 splashdown occurred at 3:04 p.m. (CST), Feb. 9, 1971, in the South Pacific Ocean, approximately 765 nautical miles from American Samoa. The astronauts were transported by U.S. Navy Helicopter to the USS New Orleans, which was the prime recovery vessel. Back of photo with faint stamp that reads, 'National Aeronautics and Space Administration Washington DC 20546. For Release: February 9, 1971. Photo No. 108 K3C 71PC 140 71 HC 255'.
