3 works by the Tzemach Tzedek: first editions, Vilna 1874/1878/1884, some with yichus.
Set of three works of the Tzemach Tzedek from the Admor Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Lubavitch, son of the Mittler Rebbe.

1. Tzemach Tzedek, “chiddushim aliba d’hilchata on the 6 sdarim of Mishnah and gemara”, printed by Rosencranz and Schriptizer. First edition Vilna 1878. Two title pages, [2], 192 leaves.
2. Shut Tzemach Tzedek from the Shulchan Aruch Orech Chaim, printed by the Romm widow and brothers. First edition, Vilna 1884. Two title pages, [3], 152 pages in the original—this copy ends on p. 148.
3. Shut Tzemach Tzedek from the Shulchan Aruch Yoreh De’ah, sections 1-2 (separate title page for each), printed by Rosencranz and Schriptizer. First edition, Vilna 1874. 86, 121, 52, 2 leaves. Missing 11 leaves from the indices.

Copies with wide margins, a few worming holes, overall good condition.

The first work has an interesting stamp: “Mordechai Menachem Kalish ben HaKadosh shlita of Skierniewice”, and a note of birth from 1900 and two handwritten signatures on the title pages (see below). Additional stamps: “Shlomo Yitzhak Kalish”.

The Admor Rabbi Mordechai Menachem Kalish of Otwock was the eldest son of the first Admor of Skierniewice, Rabbi Shimon (who was the son of the Admor Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Worka), and son-in-law of Rabbi Levi Yitzhak Guterman of Siratin (descended from the Rodzimin line). He was a merchant, and after his father’s death he began to serve as Admor. He resided in Skierniewice and Warsaw. He died on the 18th of Adar, 1929.
