“Combat Pencil” is a creative association of Leningrad artists who produced propaganda posters and collections of satirical drawings in the mid-20th century. This phenomenon of mass art itself is often called this way.
The first posters appeared in the winter of 1939-1940, during the Soviet-Finnish War. Then their production was stopped and resumed in June 1941. In 1941-1945, “Combat Pencil” posters became important military-patriotic propaganda material and gained enormous popularity. The activities of the creative association were revived in 1956 and continued until 1990.
