Binding worn, corners knocked, spine glued; on the title page and nachsatz stamps and inventory numbers; lost and fly leaf loose leaf nachsatz, the portrait of Gutenberg on front cover circled in pencil; drop the first two pages; on the pages of traces of moisture, ink, turning; some pages torn at the edges.

[The book of Peter Kolomnin (? -1915), published at the very end of the XIX century, is still almost the only example of the original Russian edition, completely devoted to typesetting, layout and typography. Until the middle of the XX century, almost all books on printing published in the USSR borrowed texts and illustrations from Kolomnin.

We don't know anything about the author himself, we don't even know what he looked like (there is a portrait of Gutenberg on the dust jacket). A significant part of the book is devoted to manual typing, however, the publication from beginning to end can be recommended as a reference and informative reading for any modern designer, typographer, typographer and editor.]
