[During the invasion of the Tatar-Mongols in Russia in 1237-1238, a major battle took place between the Mongol troops led by Burundai and the Russian troops under the command of Yuri Vsevolodovich. This battle became the basis for archaeological expeditions from the end of the XIX century. The first scientist to study the mounds in the Sith River basin in detail was L. K. Ivanovsky.
