Letter Handwritten by the Rebbe Rabbi Ya'akov Abuhatzeira


A letter handwritten by the Rebbe the miracle-worker rabbi Ya'akov Abuhatzeira.


A letter of greetings and blessing written in Judeo-Arabic, sent to "Yosef Massud ben David, Yitzchak ben David … and the father Moshe ben Yosef …" . The letter also refers to "Avraham ben Yichyeh and Massud ben Danan". On the reverse side of the leaf, the names of the addressees massud ben David and Yitzchak ben David. The letter is without a date and signature.

The Rebbe Rabbi Ya'akov Abuhatzeira, the "Abir Ya'akov" (1806-1880) a great genius and holy man. Th eglory of the Jews of Morocco and the rabbi of Tafilalt. A miracle-worker who merited Gilue Eliyahu. The grandfather of the "Baba Sali" and the head of the family of rabbis and Rebbes, the Abuhatzeira family. Authored many books on all aspects of the Torah; yet in his lifetime, he refused to publish his books. His son, Rabbi Massud, asked him many times for permission to publish his books; Rabbi Ya'akov answered however that he will come to him in a dream after his death and tell him whether his books are welcomed by God and only then could he publish them. And so it was: after his passing, he came to his son in a dream and told him to make an effort to publish his books. Most of the books were published during the years 1884-1888 in Jerusalem by his sons, most of them by his son Rabbi Aharon.

Enclosed is confirmation by an expert that the leaf before us as handwritten by the "Abir Ya'akov".
