Sefer Yichus HaTzaddikim. “Their merit along with the merit of prayers should assist us”. Mantua 1561. Rare!
“To awaken the heart of each Jew, that our forefathers and the great men after them, as well as all the righteous ones, yearned to be buried in the Holy Land.”
The book of attribution to the righteous ones, who are buried in the Holy Land and Jerusalem; our holy forefathers and the Torah giants, detailing their burial plot, its gravestone and a sentence that is attributed to each one”.
This fascinating and unusual book was authored by “The Jewish Traveler”, Gershom son of Moshe Ish Shecarmila. He printed his composition in 1561 in Mantua, Italy.
The book details the locations that significant events took place, places that our forefathers and great Jews were buried, as well as prayers or quotes that are attributed to them. This book was a great source of information and revelation connected to burial spots of the righteous, as well as their words and order of their prayers.
For example, the ‘Covenant of the parts’ – took place in “the Banias (which is Dan, that is the place of the event of our forefather Abraham, and this is the location of the ‘Covenant of the pieces’. It is situated on the peak of the mountain the non-Jews call Mashad al-Tire”. Another example is the burial place of ten Torah geniuses that is noted exclusively in this book. Additionally, the prayer to be recited at the burial place of our matriarch Rachel first appears in this book. Many other captivating and significant information is contained within this book.
