The name of Sergei Nikolaevich Troynitsky (1882-1946) is forever associated with the history of the Hermitage and with heraldry. Since 1908, he was the head of the jewelry Gallery, and in 1918, he was elected Director of the Hermitage. Troynitsky was one of the founders of the magazine " Old years "and the publisher of the magazine"Herbologist". This publication describes 70 porcelain snuffboxes from the Hermitage collection, made in 1750-1760.the geometric dimensions of snuffboxes, information about artists and places of manufacture are Given. Perhaps some of them did not serve as snuffboxes, but had a different purpose.
