The painting was bought in Sevastopol from the children of Admiral Kuzmin together with the library. Origin-the captain's cabin of the battleship "Julius Caesar" transferred to the USSR on repatriation in 1949. It may be the daughter of an Italian captain. Novorossiysk was a Soviet warship, a battleship of the black sea fleet of the Soviet Navy. Until 1948, the ship was part of the Italian Navy under the name "Giulio Cesare" (Giulio Cesare). Sank on the Sevastopol roadstead on October 29, 1955; 829 people died in the disaster, including emergency parties from other ships of the squadron.
