The Moscow necropolis was created on behalf of Grand Duke Nikolai Mikhailovich by Vladimir Ivanovich Saitov, a prominent historian and bibliographer of Russian literature. This publication includes information about people who lived in the XIV-XX centuries and were buried in cemeteries in Moscow. In the Preface, Grand Duke Nikolai Mikhailovich says that ” the publication of tombstone inscriptions will keep them forever from disappearing and will provide useful material for history and especially for genealogy.”
