Instead of his father, Alexey was raised by his maternal uncle A. A. Perovsky (Anton Pogorelsky), who wrote a fairy tale for his nephew ”the Black hen” about the adventures of a boy named Alyosha. In may 1841, Tolstoy first appeared in print, publishing a separate book, under the pseudonym ”Krasnorogsky” (from the name of the estate Red horn), a fantastic story ”the Ghoul”. V. G.
