Facsimile of engravings depicting medieval castles and other architectural structures on the territory of Auvergne during the rule of the house of Bourbon.

[Auvergne (French: Auvergne [oˈvɛʀɲ], AUX. auvèrnhe) is a former administrative region of France, located on the territory of the massif Central.
Auvergne consists of four departments of France: Allier in the North, Puy-de-Dom in the center, Cantal in the southwest, and Haute-Loire in the Southeast.
Major cities: Moulin , Aurillac, Le Puy-EN-Velay.
The territory of the Allier Department roughly corresponds to the lands of the former Duchy of Bourbon.

In 1360, king John the Good gave Auvergne to his third son, Duke Jean of Berry, whose daughter later married the Duke of Bourbon, who thus became the Duke of Auvergne.
The Dukes of Bourbon also received the Dauphine of Auvergne through marriage. Eventually, all the remaining Auvergne lands were confiscated by king Francis I in 1527.]
