Good condition. ”The Golden fleece” (FR. La Toison d'or) — monthly artistic and literary-critical journal, published in Moscow in 1906-1909. The editorial office was located on Novinsky Boulevard. A total of 34 issues of the magazine were published. The name dates back to the St. Petersburg symbolist circle ”Argonauts”. It was conceived as a continuation of the St. Petersburg ”World of art”. Editor-publisher — N. P. Ryabushinsky, the actual head of the literary Department at first — Sa Sokolov (Krechetov). Significant financial resources invested in the ”Golden fleece” Ryabushinsky (unprecedented for modernist publications), contributed to both attracting a wide range of eminent employees, and a high level of artistic design of the magazine. The magazine contained abundant illustrations (vignettes and other decorations of the pages made by L. Bakst, E. Lancer, K. A. Somov and other major Russian and foreign artists, color photographs of portraits and landscapes, especially for publications in the magazine prepared portraits of authors who made up a large portrait gallery). The first six months went in parallel in Russian and French, and translated into French and poetic texts. Since 1908, the publisher refused to Finance the ”quarto” format chosen for reproductions of works of art. Initially, the ”Golden fleece” printed the main representatives of Russian symbolism. After the departure of Sokolov-Krechetov due to conflicts with Ryabushinsky in 1907 with the magazine broke Vy Bryusov, Andrei Bely, DS Merezhkovsky, Z. N. Hippius, M. A. Kuzmin, Yu. Baltrushaitis. Initially not having a clear program, during this period, the magazine led a controversy with the magazine ”Libra”, contrasting aesthetics and individualism ”Libra” understanding of art as a religious and mystical ”Cathedral” action. Of particular importance were the articles of the Block on the civil responsibility of the artist to the people and society. In the ”Golden fleece” also collaborated with K. D. Balmont, Fedor Sologub, N. Minsky, M. A. Voloshin, S. Gorodetsky, V. Rozanov, I. A. Bunin, L. N. Andreev, B. K. Zaytsev, A. M. Remizov, B. A. Sadowski, K. Chukovsky, French poet Mercero and others. ”Golden fleece” were published books Balmont, Sologub, Block, Remizov and other writers. The magazine organized art exhibitions ”Blue rose” (1907) and ”Golden fleece Salon” (1908).
