Podsotsky K. I. XVII Congress of the CPSU (b) and the defense of the USSR.

M. Military Publishing. 1934, 56 p. Paperback publishing cover, 11 x 16.5 cm. Stamp of a nonexistent library.

In the 1930s, Konstantin Ivanovich and Sergey Ivanovich Podsotsky were rapidly climbing the career ladder and looking forward to the future. But in 1938, both were subjected to large-scale repression. Today, in their small homeland, few people remember these party and state figures, patriots of their country.

Konstantin Ivanovich Podzorski was born in 1900 in the town of chembar (now Belinsky). After graduating from educational institutions in Penza, for some time he was a teacher in the gorodishchensk district of the Penza province, and later worked as an instructor in the Penza provincial land Department. In 1919, Konstantin became a red army soldier, but his service was held in the political departments. He managed to work during the Civil war as an inspector of the political Department of the Petrograd military district, head of the political Department of the brigade of reserve troops, and in other similar positions.

After the end of the war, Konstantin Podsotsky held high positions in the political Department of the red army - was a senior Secretary, and later assistant chief of the Central House of the red Army. The thirties, until the tragic 1938, were the time of its rapid rise. Judge for yourself: in may 1933, he became head of the publishing Department of the people's Commissariat of defense, in 1935 he received the title of "brigade Commissar", in 1936, he worked as Deputy head of the Department of the State military publishing house, and in 1937, he served as the head of this Department. The people's Commissariat of defense published a huge number of books, Newspapers and magazines, as well as leading Soviet and foreign military theorists, classics of military thought and a lot of military-Patriotic literature. In fact, Konstantin Podsotsky became one of the main Soviet propagandists of the people's Commissariat of defense of the pre-war period.

There is a high probability that his career rise is connected with his brother Sergei. Sergey Ivanovich was born in 1902 in Chembar and in 1920 connected his life with the State security agencies. By 1935, he was already a captain in the state security service (at that time, this was equivalent to the rank of Colonel in the red Army).

In 1937, Sergei Ivanovich held important positions under the General Commissar of state security Nikolai Yezhov. Was the first chief of the 1st Department of 5 Department of the Main Directorate of state security of the NKVD, and later the head of the 1st Department of the 2nd Department of the gugb of the NKVD, assistant chief of the 2nd division. His last position is assistant chief of the 3rd special Department of the NKVD of the USSR (counterintelligence). His service achievements were marked with the badge "Honorary worker of the Cheka-OGPU" and the medal "XX years of the red army".

As we can see, both natives of chembar were in important positions and honestly served. But on February 1, 1938, Konstantin Podsotsky was arrested and already on August 22, 1938, on charges of participating in a military fascist plot, was shot. A little later, on September 17, 1938, Sergei Podsotsky was also arrested. He was accused of espionage, participation in a counter-revolutionary organization, and preparing a terrorist attack on February 22, 1939. he was sentenced to death by firing squad. The sentence was carried out on the following day, February 23, the Day of the red Army and red Navy. So tragically ended the life of the brothers Podatkih from chembar.

Brigade Commissar Konstantin Ivanovich Podzorski was rehabilitated on 14 April 1956 and captain of state security Sergei Ivanovich Podatki - April 30, 1957.
