Postcard with a letter in the handwriting of Chaim Amzlag
A postcard with a letter in the handwriting of Chaim Amzlag. * Chaim Nissim Amzlag or Amzlak (1828-1916), businessman and community leader from Eretz Israel. After settling in Jaffa, he served as British Deputy Consul in the city and head of the Kol Israel branch. In the days of the capitulations he played an important role in defending the city's Jewish residents, even though they were not British subjects. He took an active part in the acquisition of the lands to establish the first moshavot: in 1878 Petah Tikva and in 1882 Rishon LeZion was one of the founders of Neve Tzedek neighborhood in 1887.
