Amir Shefet (1978) is an Israeli artist who lives and works in the country. He acquired his artistic education through undergraduate studies in art and economics at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (2004) and second-degree studies in arts at Bezalel (2013). In addition to his studies in Israel, Shefet also studied in Italy and New York, thus gaining knowledge and exposure to additional sources of inspiration. Shefet's academic training in Israel and abroad did not prevent him from "returning to the sources" and learning from local masters, including the artist Aram Gershoni. His works have been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Israel, including at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. His works are included in leading private and public collections in Israel and around the world, such as the Microsoft Collection, Bank Leumi, Bank Hapoalim, the Dubi Shiff Collection, and more. In his works, Shefet oscillates between meticulous realism and abstract expressionism. By combining these two styles, he attempts to delve into kitsch and then emerge beyond it into a more genuine and sincere realm. The images Shefet portrays recur repeatedly in his works. For example, one can also refer to the familiar flowers of the artist, which receive with each artwork a different meaning, emotion, and expression. These are created as a result of Shefet's described process of "patchwork" work. The artist creates the image on the canvas, erases it or parts of it, and then returns to it again. These actions create tension between reality and imagination, between the viewer and the artwork as an object of observation.
