Strickler, Rare - Man on Horse herding Cattle over River
This exceptionaly, superbly colored view of America is from an artist Album. The full hand-written titling reads: Künstler-Album. Amerika in Miniatur. Original Ansichten von Städten und Landschaften in Amerika. Gezeichnet von Rugendas, Kurz etc., gest. von G. M. Kurz und colorirt von K. Strickler or translated America in miniature. Original views of cities and landscapes in America. Drawn by Rugendas, Kurz etc., signed by G. M. Kurz and colored by K. Strickler. The collection was done circa 1840. Each steel engraved view is on gray wash paper with morocco ribbon bordering the image. The color is exceptional and appears more as an original painting.

The views included in the work are after the artists Johann Moritz Rugendas, William Henry Bartlett, and others. The views included are of America, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil including city views of Brooklyn, Cleveland, Detroit, Halifax, Kingston, Manhattan, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Rochester, San Francisco, and Washington DC. It is likely the album was assembled to commemorate a journey to America by a German traveler. The album was signed by G. M. Kurz. The titling notes that coloring was done by K. Strickler.

The work is in very good to excellent condition overall. There may be a few minor imperfections to be expected with age. Please review the image carefully for condition and contact us with any questions.
