This wooden eagle is a massive exact duplicate of the famous eagles displayed at the Nuremberg Party Day rally. The bird has been hand carved by an absolute master and is really perfect in every way. The bird is about 27-inches high and has almost a 30-inch wingspan with its half open wings. It is carved on both sides. The detail throughout the noble eagle's brow, eye, beak and feathering is phenomenal. The talons are beautifully done with a very realistic appearance. This eagle grasps an oak leaf wreath in his talons and inside the wreath is swastika. The bird is perched on a matching wood base which is lined to simulate the bricks and blocks of Nuremberg. Studying the carving throughout it appears the center body and wreath are all carved of one piece of wood and each wing is probably a separate piece. It is hard to tell though as there are no obvious seams anywhere. An original carved bird like this is extremely rare to come by. This piece came out the one of the largest collections of Third Reich Eagles which was acquired over many years by a leading expert in the field.
